Stefan Dohr has been principal horn for the legendary Berlin Philharmonic since 1993, and now brings his golden tones to Australia. He will perform in collaboration with students from the Australian National Academy of Music.
Mozart’s great serenades are the heart and soul of the wind repertoire, and his Serenade No. 12 in C minor is his most august of the series. It’s complemented by voices from Eastern Europe in Dvořák’s Serenade for Winds, a rush of Bohemian song and dance, and the vivacious Six Bagatelles by Hungarian composer György Ligeti. Completing the set is Carl Neilsen’s attractive Serenata in Vano, which the composer described as his ‘humorous trifle’.
