Air in Motion is the debut flute album of Sydney-based composer-musician Keyna Wilkins.

With international classical training on flute, she has branched into flamenco, jazz, live theatre and improvisation. Having studied flute at Bath Spa University and Bristol University (United Kingdom), Hildesheim Uni (Germany) and Sydney Conservatorium of Music, she has also taken conceptual improvisation classes from Tibetan musician Tenzin Cheogal.

Her compositions are characterised by an ongoing fascination with astronomical phenomena and the incorporation of jazz harmonies, improvisation, electroacoustic elements and dance forms while being engaging in character, multifaceted in concept and entertaining in public perception. Published by the Australian music publishing house Wirripang, her music has been performed around the UK and Australia.

Since immigrating to Sydney in 2009, she has performed in a diverse range of ensembles including opening Adelaide Fringe Festival with Flamenco Australia in 2012 and opening the Picasso exhibition at Art Gallery of NSW in 2011 with French noir trio Les Violettes. She also plays flute in her own ensemble Ephemera whose debut album in 2017 received rave reviews.

Keyna is delighted to be joined by guest artist (and former CutCommon contributor) Angus McPherson who holds a PhD in Flute Performance from the University of Tasmania, has performed around the UK, USA and Canada and is a specialist in new music.

She will also be joined by Nicole Samsa, an accomplished current flute student at Sydney Conservatorium; and Isaac Lombard, a talented flute student.
