Calling all string quartets and piano trios! Musica Viva Australia is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the ninth Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition (MICMC).

Founded in 1991, MICMC has become known as one of the most influential and prestigious classical music competitions for young talent worldwide. If you are a chamber music ensemble, under the age of 35 years, and looking for an opportunity to raise your profile on the international stage then MICMC is for you!

With a fantastic range of prizes, 16 groups will have the privilege to compete live in front of an influential judging panel including Kirsten Dawes Head of Artistic Planning & Production, Pierre Boulez Saal, Berlin, Lukas Hagen Violin (and Professor at the Mozarteum, Salzburg), Louise Hopkins Cello (and Professor at Guildhall, London), Hsin-Yun Huang Viola (and Faculty at Curtis, Philadelphia, and Juilliard, New York), Amandine Savary Piano (and Faculty at Royal Academy of Music, London), Cho-Liang Lin Violin (and Faculty at Rice University, Houston) and Timo-Veikko Valve Cello (Principal Cello, Australian Chamber Orchestra).

There is a prize pool of over $150,000, including a Grand Prize worth $30,000, plus the opportunity to premier newly commissioned works. To ensure groups from across the globe can compete with the best emerging chamber music ensembles of their generation, the competition supports travel and accommodation for ensembles to Australia.

Don’t miss your chance to compete with the best.
