The Simon Lee Foundation Scholarship will enable a gifted and committed commencing student studying for an ECU Bachelor of Music degree (Classical Performance) to major in all facets of historical keyboard performance.

Whilst the successful candidate may well come from a background in modern piano, s/he would be required to display a flair for, and/or a keen interest in, historically informed performance practice.

Led by Professor Geoffrey Lancaster, the Simon Lee Scholar will study under the guidance of an existing core team of experts, and will have access to an internationally significant collection of historic instruments and a pool of national and international visiting artists of the highest calibre.

The scholarship is four years in duration, with each year being worth $20,000 ($80,000). A further $20,000 will be allocated in the final two years, to enable travel to study European keyboard collections.

The scholarship is open to both domestic and international applicants. Informal inquiries should be directed to Associate Professor Stewart Smith, Associate Dean (Music), Edith Cowan University.

Apply on the ECU website. Applications close 1 December. Good luck!
