EVENTS // Australian Youth Orchestra returns to the stage

strauss and berlioz this july

CONTENT COURTESY AYO

Australian Youth Orchestra will be bringing the rugged mountains of Germany to Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane with three performances of Richard Strauss’ evocative tone poem An Alpine Symphony. To celebrate AYO’s first tour since 2019, all tickets will be $25.

Forty years after his first collaboration with AYO at the 1982 Adelaide Festival, renowned British conductor Sir Mark Elder CH CBE will lead a 113-piece orchestra made up of the brightest young musicians in Australia. His return is particularly fitting as AYO reignites its full range of programs after three years of missed opportunities- this tour promises to be an immensely rewarding and inspiring experience!

The concerts will run straight through with no interval.
