CONTENT COURTESY AUSTRALIAN YOUTH ORCHESTRA

Come and experience the next generation of orchestral talent!

Presented by the Australian Youth Orchestra, join AYO Young Symphonists as they perform in Melbourne under the baton of Australian/Swedish conductor Warwick Stengårds. Warwick not only brings his extensive knowledge of symphonic music to the program, but also a vast experience of choral, operatic and musical theatre works.

Audiences will be treated to Dvořak’s high-spirited Carnival Overture, and Rachmaninov’s lush third symphony. Additionally they will present an orchestral work by Australian composer Stuart Greenbaum, The Killing Floors. Stuart is a Melbourne-based composer, whose works draw influence from jazz and pop minimalism, and aim to provide respite from the haste and hurry of modern life. He is Professor of Composition at the University of Melbourne, and tutored the AYO National Music Camp Composition program in 2015.

AYO Young Symphonists has become one of AYO’s pivotal pathways in the development of young instrumentalists aged 12–17 years. This program provides young musicians with the opportunity to ignite their musical imagination and perform exhilarating classical works for a live audience.

See AYO Young Symphonists in Concert at Deakin Edge, 2pm April 20. The concert is free admission. Register your interest on the Australian Youth Orchestra website.
