These past few months, Musica Viva has been changing the way we bring chamber music to all corners of Australia.

Determined to bring our audience something innovative, we’re working to create experiences which stimulate our senses, helping anyone to explore new worlds of sound, composition and artistry.

We’ve called this new work ‘Discover Musica Viva’ and over the coming months we’ll be adding new ideas, words and music to the collection.

Discover: Karin Schaupp

With the launch of our new Discover collection, we are truly excited to be able to introduce more people to the exceptional array of artists we work with, and the full versatility of chamber music.

Karin Schaupp is the next artist to perform under the Discover Musica Viva umbrella and we could not be more thrilled that she has chosen to do so. A classical guitarist, Schaupp is best known for her warmth of sound and engaging onstage persona. Performed in a unique, undisclosed location, join us on 22 August and experience the versatility and beauty of the classical guitar in a rarely seen intimate show.

We understand that not everyone can afford the full cost of a ticket right now ($25) and we want chamber music to be accessible to all. That’s why we’ve made our prices as low as possible, starting at just $5. Simply pay what you can afford and enjoy a luxurious evening of music from Karin Schaupp in the comfort of your own home.

Saturday, 22 August, 7pm AEST
Tickets from $5

Karin Schaupp’s playing has been hailed by the German press as “so perfect, so complete, that it seems like a miracle”. In her teens she won prestigious international prizes in Italy and Spain, and is today sought after internationally as a recitalist, soloist and festival guest, making countless television and radio appearances.

Karin has released six best-selling solo albums for Warner Music and ABC Classic as well as various award-winning ensemble and orchestral albums, including Wayfaring (2018) with cellist Umberto Clerici, the ARIA-award winning Songs of the Latin Skies (2017) with Australian songstress Katie Noonan; andthe ARIA nominated Fandango (2011) with Flinders Quartet.

Performance highlights include performing as soloist with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, some 150 performances of Lotte’s Gift, performances at a Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony, Goodwill Games Opening Ceremony, World Expo (Japan) and Hong Kong Arts Festival, and a Musica Viva International Concert Season tour with Pavel Steidl.
