Louise Dyer and Editions de l’Oiseau-Lyre: The Establishment of a Music Press
18-19 May, University of Melbourne
This two-day symposium will cover the Couperin complete edition (12 volumes), which marks the 350th centenary of the composers birth; and other print publishing of the early years. It will also explore press support of contemporary composers during the ’30s; and Louise Dyer and the visual arts.
International presenters include keynote speaker Catherine Massip from the Institut de recherche en Musicologie, Paris; Isabelle Ragnard from the Sorbonne; and Susan Daniels from King’s College, London.
Melbourne musicologists at the event include Kerry Murphy, Michael Christoforidis, Simon Purtell, and Rachel Orzech.
In one symposium event, former CutCommon Trends Editor Madeline Roycroft will present a discussion of 78 rpm recordings of Couperin from the ’30s and ’40s.
