The Melbourne International Saxophone Festival will bring together some of the best national and international musicians for a weekend of performances and masterclasses. The festival will also feature Melbourne Saxophone’s flagship educational programs 100SAX! – a massed ensemble bringing together 100 saxophone students from across Australia and the world. They will rehearse and perform Australian and world premieres with MISF guest artists at the event. This year, saxophonists with a grade 3-4 level will also be able to perform with JuniorSAX!
MISF is an event held as part of Melbourne Saxophone. Its artistic director Joseph Lallo is an associate saxophone teacher at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. He was also the programming and artistic assistant for SaxOpen, the 2015 World Saxophone Congress and Festival, and has performed across Australia, Europe, and Singapore.
Melbourne Saxophone general manager Jade Norfolk brings her experience from the 2018 Yarraville Festival, Spring Early Music Festival, 3MBS Chamber Feast Festival, and as the music outreach program manager at Melbourne Youth Orchestras.
The Melbourne International Saxophone Festival will take place from 28-29 July. Want to see the full program and book your tix? Visit the Melbourne Saxophone website.
