Young Steinway Artist Nicholas Young joins internationally renowned 10-string guitarist Matthew Fagan to combine musical passion and virtuosity to celebrate the Spirit of Spain – El Vito.
Matthew will be launching his single El Vito, which will feature on Matthew’s first vinyl release El Vito later this year.
The duo, in a world first, brings together the traditional flamenco elements of Spanish guitar with the concert masterpieces of composers Isaac Albeniz, Manuel De Falla, and Joaquin Rodrigo in stunning new arrangements. The great concert music of the Spanish Piano Masters Albeniz and Granados are reinterpreted exploring the exhilarating flamenco guitar techniques of Paco De Lucia and Paco Pena, blending with virtuoso concert piano.
Highlights of Espana are Sevilla, Asturias and Tango of Isaac Albeniz combined with the traditional flamenco guitar dances of Sevillianis, Granadinas and Tangos that initially inspired Albeniz.
Rodrigo’s famous Concierto de Aranjuez is explored through its flamenco origins of Tarantos and Rodena combined with the stunning orchestral realisation arranged for concert piano. The famous dances from Manuel De Falla ballet The Three Cornered Hat, El sombrero de tres picos is performed with stunning flamenco fire with the orchestral piano arrangement. A world premiere of Egberto Gismonti piece Frevo Rasgado, as originally performed by Paco De Lucia and John McLaughlin, has been reinterpreted for concert piano and 10-string guitar with stunning rhythmic drive and stunning orchestration.
Espana El Vito celebrates the passion and grand vision of Orchestral Spanish music arranged for concert piano with the rhythmic drive and fire of Spanish flamenco guitar. All these colours of Spanish music from passionate dance to the beautiful emotive melody of Andalucia are the journey of Espana El Vito.
