Funk Engine to open HeART of Annandale arts fest

Featuring Siebe Pogson

Classically trained jazz and rock muso Siebe Pogson has released his latest album Taking a Ride with Funk Engine.

The composer and band leader’s music draws on influences from Thelonious Monk to Herbie Hancock and more. Funk Engine’s members (three from Sydney, one from Byron Bay) met through the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Jazz Workshop, and include Siebe (electric bass) with Nish Manjanuth (tenor saxophone), Holly Conner (drums) and Felix Lalanne (electric guitar).

Taking a Ride was recorded at Free Energy Device Studios, produced by Llew Kiek and Richard Belkner, and mastered by Michael Lynch. Guest artists include Rhyan Clapham aka DOBBY, Deiniol Chynoweth (vocals), Nick Polovineo (trombone), Nick Calligeros (trumpet) and Novak Manojlovic (keyboard).
